What’s Your Why?

One of my favorite quotes is “never trade your truth for membership” made by the Angry Therapist, John Kim. Your truth is your most valuable piece of who you are. It is “your truth”, it comes from the deepest parts of yourself.

Who you are, determines your why. It determines what you are going to spend your life creating.  With a 1 in 400 trillion chance of existing as a human being on planet earth, your life is not something you want to waste. So spending it on doing things that are true to who you are is how you create your purpose.

Never lose sight of the fact that you are a part of something bigger. Your life story belongs to the collective of the entire human story. Focusing on how your truth connects you to the bigger story will show you the impact you can have on the world.

Your why is bigger than your job. It has the ability to transcend whatever current occupation you are in. We are all looking for our dream jobs. In the day and age we live in, it has never been easier to monetize your passion. However, the story never begins with you doing the thing you have always wanted. If it came that easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing. Your story is full of heartache, laughter, ups and downs, mountains and valleys. The path isn’t straight,  it is winding and seems to move forward and backwards at the same time. Looping around on itself where you feel like you havn’t made it anywhere.

The reality is life is hard and it always will be. Determining, understanding and living your why is what makes it all worth it.
